Switcheroo

It’s been 18 months since I first learned my book, Unwrapping, would be published. And 13 months since I broke that news to y’all, about the time I started this blog. And still, no book.

Well, no one ever said the path to publishing would be easy. And maybe I jumped the gun with both the blog and the news. But I honestly thought this book would be published before the end of 2023.

Call it first-time-being-published naivete.

Over the weekend, I made the difficult decision to leave my small, Asheville-based publisher, Grateful Steps. The founder, Micki Cabaniss, worked with me from the beginning in editing and designing Unwrapping, but a combination of health and printer issues made me finally recognize that, as my wife, Terrie, said, sometimes things happen for a reason.

Of course, I would not have made this decision without a backup plan, and I’m pleased to report that a small, health issues-oriented publishing company has agreed to take on Unwrapping. That seems appropriate for a book about generational trauma and the therapeutic process.

I’m not yet sure of the timeline for publication, and, given what’s happened, I’d like to hold off on making any promises in this space. But please bear with me; I’ll hopefully have that information and the story behind my new publishing company in a future post.
