First Event? Done!
On Saturday, nearly four years after I began writing Unwrapping: A Novel About Generational Trauma, I reached a milestone—a launch event signing at Barnes & Noble here in Winston-Salem.
I am so grateful to all who stopped by my table, taking time from their day to schmooze, buy a copy and support me. I was able to see folks from different periods of my life, a reminder of how diverse that life has been.
A special shout-out to Megan, Tori and the Barnes & Noble team for helping me get the rollouot going with this first signing. I hope, over the next several months, to bring Unwrapping to more people via book clubs, speaking engagements and other events.
As the author of a book from a small publishing company (that has actually closed with the founder’s retirement), I’m truly dependent on my friends to help spread the word. Here are some images from Saturday’s event:
Pictured with me in the top row are: a mentor and friend, Prof. Mark Scholl of Wake Forest University’s counseling program, who has encouraged me throughout the process and whose supportive quote appears on the book’s back cover; Brittany Proxmire, who is the outreach coordinator for Banyan Tree Counseling & Wellness, where I work; and, bottom row, my wife, Terrie, who was on top of things all day long and soothed my nerves.
